Our School
Keyneton Primary School is an ecologically sustainable community school offering flexible indoor and outdoor spaces for inclusive, hands-on learning.
A large multi-purpose learning area links the two classrooms. An extensive modern playground is located under shade, a very popular large sandpit is also under shade and an fire pit in our back lawn area provides outdoor learning experiences when the weather permits. In addition we have an oval, tennis and netball court and plenty of room for free play. All areas have safe wheelchair access.
As the multi-purpose learning area links the two main classrooms it allows small numbers of students to flow into the room for group work, cross-age tutoring and buddy work. It is also used for whole school activities, for example: dance, drama, SRC meetings, concert practice and assemblies. The room incorporates ample storage space and a large wet area which is used for art, science experiments and project work.
Keyneton Primary School is an ecologically sustainable school where the staff and students engage in environmental learning programs with support from expert personnel from the Natural Resources SA Murray-Darling Basin and the Mid Murray Council.
Students participate in a variety of activities including: Schools Clean Up Day, Planet Ark Tree Day, testing of the local waterway for Waterwatch, Young Environmental Leaders and growing vegetables in a sustainable food garden. There are also chickens, a worm farm and composting bins.
